There is going to be a botanical excursion to Georgia in the spring of 2009 (27 March - 9 April). During ten days we plan to visit the habitats of interesting Caucasian geophytes near Tbilisi as well as the high mountain plateau of Javakheti. We still have vacancy for approx. 5 more travellers with interest in Caucasian flowers.
We are going to travel by bus. The journey will be led by Prof. Shamil Shetekauri, an experienced Georgian botanist. We stay in simple and hospitable hostels (private estates or small hotels). The price of 900 Euro per traveller includes all transfers in Georgia, board and logding as well as guides. We can arrange for flights from Germany to Tbilisi (at extra costs).
This is our second botanical excursion after our journey for the Thuringian Botanical Society in 2007. This time we focus on the particular spring flora of the Transcaucasus. Of course, we will stay far away from the two conflict regions. Our destinations are situated in the politically stable East and South of Georgia. We have visited these regions before and everything went alright.
